Photography Tips & Techniques
Master the art of analog-style photography
Indoors: Flash On
In low light settings, the flash will keep subjects crisp. Stand back a few feet for the best results.
Outdoors: Face the Sun
Front-lit subjects pop. For softer light, shoot in open shade or during golden hour.
Don't Be Shy
Fill the frame and get close to your subject. Switch the flash on to maintain tones.
Try Vertical Portraits
For single-person shots or tall scenes, rotate vertically for a strong composition.
Troubleshooting & Common Questions
Everything you need to know about using echolens
Why can I not connect to my echolens camera?
Please make sure you allow location services and local network when you open the app for the first time. If you already have an account, please double-check if location services and local netqeok are enabled in the app or under echolens in your phone's settings. Don't worry, we do not share any of your location data. Location services are only enabled for your phone to recognize the WiFi in your echolens.
How do I know the flash is on?
When you turn the flash dial on the top of your echolens, the light on the back of your camera will shine red.
Why will the blue light on my camera not turn off?
The blue light on your echolens lets you know that your camera is currently searchable by WiFi. To manually turn off WiFi, please hold the WiFi button on the bottom of your camera for 5 seconds.
How do I know my echolens is charging?
When you plug in your echolens using a USB-C cable, the light on the back of your camera will shine red to indicate it is charging. The light will flash red if your camera is low on battery.
How do I get my photos using USB-C
After you plug your echolens into your computer or phone via USB-C, hold down the WiFi button for approximately 10 seconds, and your camera will appear.
Do I have to take all 54 photos on a roll in order to upload it to the echolens app?
Nope! You can transfer any number of photos to the app, including no photos at all. You may change your active film roll to your heart's content.
I downloaded my photos, but I do not see them on my phone.
Your photos aren't missing! Although this is a rare case on iOS devices, if there is an interruption in the upload process, the metadata on your photo may be set to an earlier date and that photo is showing earlier in your photo library.
Is there a way to reset my camera?
Yes! To reset your echolens, use a narrow pin to press the small reset button on the bottom of the camera labeled "R".
